Meet Nils Olav, a King Penguin living in in the Edinburgh Zoo. He is not your ordinary penguin. He also happens to be the Colonel-in-Chief of the Norwegian King’s Guard. As well, in 2008 he was awarded knighthood by the Norwegian King’s Guard, an honor approved by the king of Norway, King Harald V. During the ceremony a crowd of people joined the guardsmen at the zoo to hear a citation from King Harald the Fifth of Norway read out, which described Nils as a penguin “in every way qualified to receive the honor and dignity of knighthood”. So, now he is known as Colonel-in-Chief Sir Nils Olav.
